More and more machine builders are looking for ways to reduce costs, improve their customer support, and offer new services to their customers. Ewon solutions are helping machine builders do this by providing easy, secure, and scalable remote connectivity to their equipment.
The following TIP will guide you through the different steps allowing you to get ready with your remote service project.
Start by connecting your Ewon device to Talk2M.
With an Ewon device installed in the machine, connected to the PLC, and configured to connect to Talk2M, you can remotely support your machines. Talk2M, Ewon’s industrial cloud, will provide you all the features that make it easy to provide your customers with visibility into the health of their equipment.
Configure your Ewon Flexy
The next step is to configure your Ewon gateway to read tags from the machine’s PLC.
The embedded IO server of Ewon allows to poll data out of most of the Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLCs:
Fore more details, check the Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Data Acquisition.
You can find the details in our documentation on how to poll data from an Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLC:
Once the data from the machine are being read by the Flexy, you can create alarms for specific tags you want to monitor. You can also enable historical logging for better diagnostics when troubleshooting problems.
Next, on the Ewon gateway pick the tags you want to share with your customer, make the tags KPIs, and publish them to Talk2M. Learn more about configuring the KPI feature: TIP Easy KPI.
If you are giving customers access, you will want to control which devices are accessible to different users.
Talk2M Pro’s user groups and Ewon pools make sure that your customers can only access what you want them to access and only through M2Web.
The Talk2M LAN Devices and Firewall settings give you even further control of what they can do once they’re connected.
Meanwhile, your own service team can access all devices through eCatcher for easy remote support.
More details on how to handle users groups / Ewons pools in our documentation.
Make sure your customers associate this service with you by customizing the M2Web portal interface to match your brand or even integrate the login in your own website. This customization feature is called the M2Web Logo Program and you can configure it directly from eCatcher.
Your Ewon device has a web server which can support custom webpages for easy visualization of the machine’s performance. You can write the HTML yourself or use Ewon’s viewON software.
viewON is a graphical environment used to design animated HMI pages. Its purpose is to let you create your own custom web pages without knowledge of HTML or SSI (Server Side Include) languages.

Connecting to your PLC for remote support and troubleshooting is easy whether you use MELSEC or MITSUFX.
Connect to your Ewon device in eCatcher. Once you are connected, follow these instructions to get access to your PLC through your software.
A Logbook is available for each Ewon device of your Talk2M account. Via this Logbook, you can leave a message about what you did while you were connected such as the actions you performed or a reminder of what needs to be done the next time.
