A leading dairy manufacturer in India required a data acquisition system to ensure that a consistent quality of milk was received by the customer. Consyst helped them achieve this goal by implementing an Ewon-based solution in their plant.
Automated data measurement increases milk quality
The system used previously was to record the level and temperature manually, using local gauges. This manual process led to gaps in the quality control process, as readings were taken at set intervals. As a result, the quality of the milk passing between these intervals was not checked, which resulted in a lack of consistency and potential issues. To fix this problem and ensure a consistent high quality of milk, the level and temperature of the milk stored in the silos had to be continuously monitored. The data then had to be transmitted to a central software integrated with the ERP of the head office.
Ewon Flexy enables effective milk temperature monitoring
The solution implemented by Consyst includes the continuous measurement and recording of milk level and temperature in the silos. It consists of level and temperature sensors, analog input modules, an Ewon Flexy industrial gateway, local monitoring based on ViewON and IIoTNext platform (a Cloud based IIoT platform by Consyst).
Data from the sensors are collected by the Ewon Flexy IIoT gateway with help of Modbus RTU Analog Input module
Sensor data is collected by the Ewon Flexy. Real-time data is then monitored locally using the Flexy’s graphical tool, ViewON, and is also transmitted to an IIoT cloud platform using an API (thanks to Ewon’s Datamailbox) for remote monitoring and analysis.
Benefits
- The new Flexy based system allows milk inspection to be much more efficient
- Milk temperature is continously monitored, allowing consistency in quality
- High quality milk leads to greater customer satisfaction
